Blood Transfusions Aren't Just for Old People

Doctors have discovered a way to mimic the effects of these transfusions without having to spill any actual blood. It's an arthritis medication, specifically a drug called anakinra that blocks a signal in the blood known as IL-1B which is linked to other inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Anakinra worked best whenever the mice took it for the entirety of their lives and not just when they were already old.
