Petra is considered one of the seven, i don't know why they chose the number seven, a modern lucky places in the world. It's located 150 miles south of jerusalem and about midway between damascus, syria and the red sea. The reason it was located there is because it was an ideal location for a hub of commerce in the ancient world.
