Mervyn Harding did his doctoral thesis under Fred Stair at Harvard University, who was bankrolled by the food industry. He wanted to prove that a plant-based diet was healthy and you have to admire him. By 1954, 1956, their research was starting to really influence dietary guidelines. They're aligned with industry because they're both powerful allies and it suits their purpose. It's mutually beneficial for sure.
