The Role of Risk in Capitalism

The first thing we have to think about is risk because that's really the driving force. There's no magic wand a government can wave that will say, okay, there's no more risk here. You absolutely cannot make it go away. You can only spread it around. The speculators just simply buying some stock during round reselling it are incredibly valuable to the economy as a whole. They're acting as conduits, pushing information into stock prices as quickly as they can. For you and me, when I go to buy a stock or to sell a stock, I can be relatively comfortable that the price that's being quoted is fair in that it reflects all the currently available information.
