The CPI-H Isn't a Good Measure of Housing Costs

CPI-H doesn't measure housing costs in a convincing way, says Andrew Sentence. It basically treats people who own their own houses as though they're renting their houses from themselves. What a house is ultimately giving you is sort of housing services such as shelter and location. Different price indexes have different proxies for those services that housing ownership give you.
