The Role of Tourniquets in Trauma

The key thing is to make sure that your tourniquets are tight, not applied over any joint areas. If there's bleeding in some of the crevices, be it the neck or the armpits or the groin, that's where you might want to go to direct pressure or packing. The toughest part of a tourniquet is having the sort of intestinal fortitude to actually put the done thing on along with proper direct pressure,. And I've read all sorts of awful case reports of highly skilled people standing around while somebody hemorrhaged to death. So let's pivot then into other forms of tamponade: Raboa, flash in the pan and sandy.
