"I've always felt somewhat like inauthentic or like I've liked to make make music in a way that like is not really about myself because nonetheless like quite personal somehow it feels like yeah like owned somehow so you know?" he says. "There's these sort of layers of stuff that like somehow should make it not work but I think partly the function of me listening to it like years and years all the time." He adds: "It's like I wouldn't want it any other way I would want it better at this point".
