The Problem With the Dough Formula
Xiao Zhen-Hong used potassium sorbate as a preservative for his dough-figurines. But the substance reacts with skilizarin used in the dough, causing it to go soft and erode steel bar armature. He removed glycerin and potassium Sorbate from the formula and replaced them with sodium benzoate. The preservative problem had been solved, but only for a while.
