BF Skinner created these analog teaching machines which you can see pictures of them at the Smithsonian Institute. The company that developed a lot of his prototypical machines was IBM and in this NEA teaching machines and program instruction document it has articles from VF Skinner, there's a whole section on it. This book was published in collaboration with the Navy, the Air Force and the US Army's Human Resources Research Office so they basically got all this stuff put together in the 60s. Then we move forward to the modern adaptive learning software, you just change the analog system, wheel of tape, gears and things like that and you just make it digital.
