Sufism - The End of One Sacred Route
In a way Sufism is, you could think of it as the kind of end of one scholarly itinerary. Al-Arazali was a scholar from the Maghreb who wrote a treatise in logic entitled Al-Sulam Al-Mourawanak - literally translated the luminous ladder. One way of knowing memorizing even abstract disciplines would be to put them in verses and recite basically those verses. So you'll be reciting the Sulem of Al-Aazrali in order to understand classical Aristotelian logic.
