Introduction
Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Abdu'l were two of the greatest Muslim thinkers of the early 20th century. They came from nearly opposite ends of the Islamic world but had more in common than just a name. Both advocated a reformist view of Islam, rejecting fatalist and determinist elements in the tradition to make room for individual and social improvement.
