How Did the Inquisition Affect Our Modern Understandings?
Do we have a good sense of how the mediaeval inquisition affected what we to day would call freedom of thought, religion and expression? We do. And again, i think that's a terrific question, especially in terms of understanding what the mediaeval experiencecan tell us about our modern understandings of tes these concepts. What we see certainly, at the beginning of inquisition, say, in the 12 thirties, they are really haphazard. It's as if the the d m v people were coming to your town. People are trying to sort of figure out, again, what what is supposed to happen here? Every is evolving in such a messy way.
