The Tuscan Gothic has the air of a retro futuristic project in that seems to belong between several different recognizable historical eras. Mussolini did choose to intervene and he slapped down the deputies and he gave this speech to the architects where he said young architects you should not be afraid to be boldStrange contradictory phrasing there's an earlier controversy involving the rationalists where he very pointedly doesn't intervene at all and he lets them fight it out but on this one he because the projects are to some extent identified with him he chooses to intervene he backs them up.
