The policy of appeasement was a guess, a gamble, which had in the minds of Chamberlain and other appeasement supporters two possible outcomes. At the end of these episodes, I feel like I need to reconsider that. But I don't know what the correct answer is. It's kind of led me to the conclusion that on this topic, along with many other topics like this that rely heavily on kind of counterfactual events after a specific decision is made.
