There is nothing less fashionable in portland, ta, than a eyed state school grad fresh off the plain from a midwestern suburb in the big city. To pray is to risk being na it is to risk believing, to risk playing the fool, to risk trusting some one or something enough that they can let you down. And then there's fear of doing it wrong. We are paralyzed by self evaluation. See, we know all too well the cacophony of motives that lives within every one of us, forever whirling around. When we pray, we become aware of those motives and draws them up to the surface. It means to permanently put yourself in the underneath position. With prayer
