Why Do You Want to Write a Novel All Over Again?

I think skips in time really helps a novel feel larger, feel that has a grand or broader scope. I kind of wanted the novel to be an intergenerational novel. In some ways, even though Peng and Yang have become big shots in the party by part five, hopefully I'm not spoiling anything. But Hairu is kind of more fortunate in other ways.
