The Importance of the First Amendment in Today's Environment
First Amendment as we know it today is much, much broader than that. The people who drafted the First Amendment were most concerned about prior restraints on the press. I think many of the things that the Supreme Court has said count as speech seem far removed from the text of the statute. But there are these really hard questions about how broad should this concept of speech be.
