The History of the Safavid Empire
Safavid era saw significant changes and developments in jurisprudence or Islamic law. The school of law followed by the 12ers she is called the Jafari school named after that very significant sixth imam Jafar Asadik. Under the Safavid's this rationalistic tendency was challenged by a resurgence of the traditionalist school who rejected independent reasoning in terms of law. Since the 19th century the Usoles once again gained the upper hand and today the absolute majority of Shiits follow the Usole school.
