The Fear of Fish Meal in Gambia
The coast of West Africa is a zone where 14 factories have popped up over the course of eight, nine years. Globally, more than a quarter of all fish pulled from the sea ends up as fish meal. A single plant can process more than 7,500 tons a year. In Gambia, there were three fish meal factories that were consuming huge amounts of local fish to make this export product.
