Optimism and Hope
Hope is like the anchor being dropped from the future into the current to hold something fast. In this way, it's in a sense tethered to the Scriptures, these real promises from the Lord of the future. God doesn't make promises that are conditional on things such as if you do this then you'll be blessed. Christ isn't flippin' sometimes, at least they can't be.
