Many people have noticed that matthew front loads these fulfilment citations in his gospel. So he seems to be up to something here. He's trying to tell a particular story. It's the story that you're always telling in the genealogy about the son of david coming to liberate israel from exile. These are things that come from somewhere else that he is quoting from, or retelling in his own word.
