The Effects of Middle Ear Effluence on Hearing Loss
The temporary and mild hearing loss, I think, just impacts at-risk children more in a way that's harder for them to make up. If you've identified a middle ear effusion, what you've now identified is a potential non-urgent, but longer-term problem. What do we do to follow children after we've decided that they either do or don't have acute otitis media? We are not going to treat them with antibiotics.
