The DNA Fingerprint of a Bee Hive

Honey is a record of where the bees are visited in the making of that honey. Wales is one of the first countries in the world to have DNA barcoded all its flowering plants. We can then look at pollen from plants in Wales and identify them on the basis of genetic signatures. Once we've identified a honey sample that has the magic ingredients in, we can then identify the plants which are the likely source.
