The Green Knight and Gawaine
Gawaine is sent on his way by bertelac to find the green chapel. He knows he's in the right spot because he can hear an axe being sharpened. The green knight makes as if he's going to chop his head off, but stops at the last minute. But gawaine flinches - and sure enough, he doesn't get a good cut. It was because he did accept the girdle from the wife.
