Farnabasas inherited the governorship of Frigia from his father. His great-grandfather fought these Greeks long ago in his majesty's service. He crushed them at Thermopylae, he burned their temples at Athens. But now, nearly 100 years after Xerxes' glorious expedition to punish the Greeks for their sins, they were still causing the Persians' headaches.
