The Carlos Later Trial

The Carlos later trial was one of the biggest drug trials from the 1980s. Drug cases were at their height, sort of the bread and butter of criminal defense lawyers in Miami. The U.S. government had been frustrated for years because they had not been able to secure any of the infamous Medellin cartel defendants for trial in the United States. It was an enormous coup that Colombia essentially became so fed up with later's political attacks that they turned them over to the US DEA.
