Jesus has this power if thou be the son of God, which he had just heard that this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. So we know he has this power. There's plenty of examples of Jesus creating bread when it's needed for thousands of people. And yet I can't find once in the New Testament where he ever uses this power to feed himself. It does everything the appropriate way.
