The Origins of the C. Elegans Genome
C. elegans served as the model for understanding how we could go about decoding a genome and sequencing it completely. The worm has all of those genes that have been identified so far except for one, which allows it to be a very useful model for studying Parkinson's. We share approximately 50% of our DNA with C. elegans.
