Hataiyama Ichiro's Disappointment With Politics

Hataiyama Yukio was the son of Hataiyama Kazuo, a former prime minister. He followed in his father's footsteps and ran for office in 1986 after a brief career as an engineering professor. But he quit the LDP over corruption scandals that racked the party following the collapse of the real estate bubble. The most successful of his projects was the Democratic Party of Japan or DPJ which unseated the LDP in 2009.
