The Sea Peoples and the Aegean Migration

There were far fewer people living in the Aegean by 1100 or 1050 BC than there had been around 1200 BC. Outmigration is a perfectly viable explanation for at least some of the depopulation we see in the archaeological record. The Eastern Mediterranean was well within the parameters of Aegean seafaring knowledge at the end of the Bronze Age. Information about the southern coast of Anatolia, Cyprus, the coasts of Syria and Canaan, and even Egypt all would have been available to people in the AeGean.
