The Effects of Drugs on Alzheimer's Disease

There's just so much money pouring into research for Alzheimer's treatment. Are there any effective drugs out there to stop or slow the progression? I was doing some of the research on one of the more successful drugs, it is a colonist race inhibitor. What did it do in research laboratory scenarios? It didn't slow the progression in the least...It made a difference in a couple of symptoms, but just marginally.
