Is Religion a Part of the Cause of Collapse?

When you back someone into a corner on anything that they believe, they get defensive. And I think it's kind of a sad thing to see a lot in the collapse community, like on Reddit, there's a lot of pretty derogatory remarks towards people who have religion. Most major religions share a belief that the world, at least as we know it, is going to end. It gives purpose and hope, which can be good or bad if taken too far.
