The photoelectric effect is a subtly different kind of effect. But more commonly, if we are to understand things like spectroscopy, how when you put electricity through a neon glass tube, you end up getting a particular characteristic color. And those photons always have precisely the energy that you would calculate as the difference between the energy levels from where the photons are coming. That's physics, isn't it? How wonderful.
