At its heart, at the heart of forgiveness is refusing to carry that thing around. It's like they handed you this thing when they did whatever it is, and now we're carrying it around. You can't forgive a faceless institution, corporation or entity. You have to get a name and a face. And then you decide to send it away. This is why it gets so strangely heavy.
