The Dobert Principle and the Peter Principle
Dobert principle is basically an inversion of the Peter principle. Adams envisioned hierarchy as a defense mechanism to elevate incompetent people into positions of upper management where they don't actually have anything to do. Both principles can be useful observations about the way organizations work and about pitfalls to avoid when creating organizations.
