The Positive Effects of Senescent Cells on Type 1 Diabetes

The secretory phenotype of senescent cells is thought to drive age-related disease. It's seen frequently in sarcopenia, frailty, Alzheimer's. We see it also in young people and type 1 diabetes patients. And we believe that there was some immune dysfunction at work here in combination with the senescent cells. But if you actually track a number of indications where natural killer T cells are dysfunctional or lower in volume or allergic, it actually tracks quite interestingly.
