Introduction

For almost half a century our culture has been embarrassed at words like wickedness, sin, judgment, punishment, and hell. Some of our deep thinkers say evil is only a temporary stage of evolution that we will just grow out of as we grow out of diapers. We tend to conclude from this illogically that we fear evil too much, not too little. But then we saw the spectacular evils of September 11th. Where had all the gurus gone?
