American English Is Better Than British English
David Frum: I've read somewhere that Americans actually sound more like original English speakers. He says a true Shakespearean accent would sound more American because British English has continued to evolve in those sound shifts. "We're kind of frozen in 1776, 1750 or whatever," he says; 'I'd like to say that we're better' The most conservative English dialects are in northern England into Scotland and the north-eastern U.S., Dr. Frum adds.
