I think that with trauma it can be re-traumatizing and problematic to just talk about trauma so that's where you definitely want to do trauma specific therapy like with a somatic experiencing therapist or an EMDR therapist. I have an increasingly controversial view about CBTCBT is sort of like the gold standard of this is the evidence-based kind of therapy this works but I feel like it's a little bit misogynistic. There's maybe some room for us to evolve to like CBT plus which is like here new ways to challenge your automatic thoughts and here are ways to get insights.
