Is There a Relationship Between Income and Happiness?

There is a relationship between absolute level of income and self reported lack of misery or happiness. And so it's clear that past a certain minimal point, additional material provision is not sufficient to redeem us individually or socially. It's certainly the case that the radical wealth production that characterizes capitalism might produce a fatal threat to the structure of our social systems - but who knows?
