1st Samuel Chapters 15 - 22:
We see Israel's first king Saul slowly decend into a dark madness, while similtaneously we see a young annointed shepherd slowly start his journey to the throne.
In chapter 15 the Lord eejects Saul and Samuel executes King Agag.
Chapter 16 Samuel anoints David as the next king.
1st Samuel chapter 17 has to be one of the most famous chapters in the Old Testament: David kills Goliath.
In chapters 18 to 20 we see the complicated relationships between Saul's children and David.
David runs from King Saul in chapter 21 and then finally in chapter 22 Saul hits an all time low in the slaughter of the Priests.
