How to Beat the Surname and Be True in Your Research

I love the quote you cite from Jonathan Swift that says falsehood flies and truth comes limping after it so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late. So with respect to say your research and your approach, how do you vet out the information you're you're digging up in the research and beat the rap? I'm just relying on primary data sources as much as I can. That is ultimately a risk that I take there isn't public access to the same kind of data.
