The Importance of Setting Up a Story
The story setup is not just about setting up future action of the story. It's also setting up two conclusions, what he's going to reveal to us and what he will extract for us. His approach is subtle, but if you hear different versions told more generally, including my summary, and then you hear his, you might question why he's doing it this way. But when he arrives at his later destination, which we'll get to, suddenly it clicks. He was laying important groundwork building towards something meaningful.
