The Legacy of Joseph Stalin

On 6 March 1953, the announcement went out to the people of the Soviet Union that Joseph Stalin was dead. He had held an iron grip on the country for almost 30 years, enacting huge changes on the country. In the aftermath of his death, his successor Nikhid the Khrushchev denounced him. Some historians have said he bears personal responsibility for the deaths of 20 million people.
