The importance of the serpent to those people would almost make sense as to why of all creatures to draw well for the effigy, it would be the serpent rather than a different type of animal. So if indeed the culture that built serpent mound had a prescription of making graven images of serpents, they certainly violated it and building the largest effigy of a serpent ever built in the world. But what about serpent mound? Of course they could make serpents. How interesting.
