The Origins of Birds and Reptiles
Birds and reptiles share a common vocal behavior, called a closed-mouth vocalization. Crocodilians can make very loud sounds that to us would sound most like a roar. Those rumbles are made with the mouth closed. Birds represent the descendants of one lineage of dinosaurs.
