Is This a Policy Focus in Uk?
It's difficult for an economist perspective, to be precise about what the government is aiming for in terms of levelling up. In some broad sense, it is trying to make sure that places that aren't doing well do better. There's 12 of these missions in all. It's hard to disagree with any of them. But ultimately, they'll have to make decisions about where they're going to spend the money. And i think economists hand to get nervous when the objectives are very, very broad because it becomes very hard to think about how you would achieve them.
