Bitcoin Mining

CNN's John Sutter talks with Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto about the idea of moving electronic money around without banks. In essence, when I send a Bitcoin to you, the person who solves the cryptographic problem first gets the opportunity to add that transaction to the ledger and gets incentivized financially for doing so. The miners are humans operating very powerful computer machinery which is dedicated to the process of Bitcoin mining.
