The Importance of Postmodernism
The more I have read Pinchon in particular, but also just other postmodern stuff, there often is a thread that isn't always easily grasped on the first read through. The yield of this thesis or the big takeaway from the book is kind of slippery and not always easy to pin down, but it's there. For any one of Pinchon's names that he uses, I think is a coin toss that like this one could mean something. This could just be a silly joke of his because he is a very whimsical writer. People don't push through that difficulty to realize how cartoonish and absurd it is.
