Octavian and the Republic
I think Octavian clearly believed in something of a Republic. And certainly some of the words that Libby puts to sources earlier, like clearly believe that part of the Republic is that the people have a voice. But by contrast, it's clear that Octavian does not think that popular voting assemblies are particularly important to the Republic. I think the Romans see the oligarchy as a legitimate interest group in a way that I think as moderns we tend not to right?
